The Board of Trustees after two years of gathering and discussing a Bachelors Curriculum of Divinity for the
seminary and with the approval and blessings of  the Holy Synod presents the following to our community.
BACHELORS OF DIVINITY
FIRST YEAR
In the first year the student will built a great depth in the fundamentals of the Orthodox Christian Faith in
the following areas of study, Catechism, knowledge of the Old and New Testament, liturgy, Western
Orthodox History, Counseling and Music. The entire course of study is intended to qualify the student to
serve the Holy Church as a Reader. At the conclusion of this year the student will receive a Readers
Certificate.

Candidates that are only interest in obtaining a Readers Certificate will be matriculated in the first year
program and at its conclusion graduate with a certificate.
In the second year the student will be prepared in the following areas of study: Canon Law, Homiletics,
Communication, Religion and The Law, Comparative Theology, Liturgics, Patristics, Doctrine and
knowledge of the Old and New Testament. The entire course of study is intended to qualify the student to
serve the Holy Church as a Minister. At the conclusion of this year the student will receive a Ministers
Certificate.

Candidates that are only interest in obtaining a Minister Certificate will be matriculated in the Second year
program and at its conclusion graduate with a certificate.
SECOND YEAR
THIRD YEAR
In the third year the student will be prepared in the following areas of study: Canon Law, Homiletics,
Apocrypha, Diaconal studies, Pastoral Administration, Life, Field Work and Spirituality. The entire course
of study is intended to qualify the student to serve the Holy Church as a Deacon/ess.

At the conclusion of this year the student will receive a Deacon/ess Certificate and for those students
that have completed the first two years a Bachelors of Divinity. They will be with the approval of the
Holy Synod be ordained into the Holy Diaconate.
FOURTH YEAR        
Men who are considered candidates for a Masters of Divinity, with the blessing of the diocesan Hierarchy,
program. The student will select two of the following classes: Canon Law, Catechism, Old/New Testament,
Pastoral Care, Patristics and Spirituality.

The student in the second semester will submit an in-depth research paper on a selected topic in theology
that has been endorsed by the Committee and approved by the Faculty. The Thesis: (1) must show scholarly
knowledge of the subject, and demonstrate extensive research and originality of thought and it must be
substantial in character and length (approximately 25,000 words), (2) the student will work under the
supervision of a Faculty member (Faculty Supervisor) selected by the Committee. After the approval of the
supervising faculty member, it is to be submitted to the Committee.

The examination of the Thesis will be conducted by a panel of three examiners including: the dissertation
Faculty Supervisor; the Chair of the Committee on Advanced Degrees; and one external examiner
appointed by the Dean of the Seminary upon recommendation of the supervisors and the Committee.
The examining panel will report to the Faculty, via the Chair of the Committee, their judgment of the
thesis and of the student’s defense of it.

At the conclusion of the Masters of Divinity the student is eligible for Ordination into the Holy Priesthood  
with the approval of the Holy Synod.
MASTERS OF DIVINITY

                                      DOCTORATE OF CANON LAW

(These degrees will be offer to Byzantine Catholic Orthodox Seminarians only with approval of the Holy Synod, so
please contact us if you are interested.)

Men and women who are considered candidates for a Doctorate of Canon Law, with the blessing of the
diocesan Hierarchy, endorsement of mentor and permission of the faculty, will be permitted to enter the
fifth year program. The student in the first semester will select between one of the following classes:
Seven Ecumenical Councils, The 85 Canons, or The 12 Canons.

The student in the second semester will submit, and successfully defend, a dissertation in the major area
f study that has been endorsed by the Committee and approved by the Faculty. The dissertation: (1) must
show scholarly knowledge of the literature of the subject, and demonstrate extensive research and
originality of thought and it must be substantial in character and length (approximately 50,000 words),
(2) the student will work under the supervision of a Faculty member (Faculty Supervisor) selected by the
Committee. After the approval of the supervising faculty member, it is to be submitted to the Committee.

The examination of the dissertation will be conducted by a panel of three examiners including: the
dissertation Faculty Supervisor; the Chair of the Committee on Advanced Degrees; and one external
examiner appointed by the Dean of the Seminary upon recommendation of the supervisors and the
Committee. The examining panel will report to the Faculty, via the Chair of the Committee, their
judgment of the dissertation and of the student’s defense of it.

                           MASTERS OF MORAL THEOLOGY

( This degrees will be offer to Byzantine Catholic Orthodox Seminarians as well as non church members with approval
of the Holy Synod, so please contact us if you are interested.)

Men and women who are considered candidates for a Masters of Moral Theology, with the blessing of the
diocesan Hierarch, endorsement of mentor  and permission of the faculty, will be permitted to enter the
Masters of Moral Theology program.

The following courses will be provided in the first semester: Moral Theology I or Moral Theology II. The
decision on which courses will be taken will be on the discretion of the instructor. The student in the second
semester will be required to submit an in-depth research paper (Thesis) on a selected topic in theology that
has been endorsed by the Committee and approved by the Faculty.

The Thesis: (1) must show scholarly knowledge of the subject, and demonstrate extensive research and
originality of thought and it must be substantial in character and length (approximately 25,000 words), (2)
the student will work under the supervision of a Faculty member (Faculty Supervisor) selected by the
Committee. After the approval of the supervising faculty member, it is to be submitted to the Committee.

The examination of the Thesis will be conducted by a panel of three examiners including: the dissertation
Faculty Supervisor; the Chair of the Committee on Advanced Degrees; and one external examiner
appointedby the Dean of the Seminary upon recommendation of the supervisors and the Committee.

                     DOCTORATE OF DOGMATIC THEOLOGY

Men and women who are considered candidates for a Doctorate of Dogmatic Theology, with the blessing of
the diocesan Hierarch, endorsement of mentor  and permission of the faculty, will be permitted to enter the
Doctorate of Dogmatic Theology program.

The following courses will be provided in the first semester: Orthodox Dogmatic Theology I or Orthodox
Dogmatic Theology II. The decision on which courses will be taken will be on the discretion of the
